Communication Technician - Construction (NOC 72204)

Job duties 

• Install, splice, repair, and maintain overhead and underground cables, including fibre optic and copper lines.
• Pull, position, and secure cables through conduits, ducts, walls, floors, and other structural pathways.
• Use cable splicing tools, testing equipment, and meters to verify continuity, signal strength, and proper installation.
• Install cable support structures such as brackets, hangers, and related hardware.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and network layout plans.
• Follow safety procedures and industry standards while working at heights, in confined spaces, or around energized equipment.
• Load, move, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment required for cable installation projects.
• Perform related installation, repair, and field support tasks as required.

Terms of employment

The position is indeterminate, full-time (40 hours per week).

Expected Employment Start Date: as soon as possible

Wage

$40.05/h

Benefits

4% vacation pay

Location of work 

Our business address and various locations in the Metro Vancouver Area – as per project needs.

Skills requirements – Education and Work experience

Education: 

• Secondary (high) school required

Work Experience: 

• Min. 2 years’ experience in telecommunications, electrical, or cable installation is required
• Experience with fibre optic or copper cable splicing is an asset.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, cable routing plans, and technical diagrams.
• Must be familiar with procedures for working at heights, confined spaces, and around energized systems.
• Experience in the renewable energy field is an asset.

Language requirements:

Ability to communicate both written and verbally in English is required.
