Heavy Equipment Operator (NOC 73400)

Job duties 

• Operate heavy equipment, in particular John Deere Skid Steer, Bobcat and potentially others - excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, loaders and graders - to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel, snow or other materials during landscaping, hardscaping, construction, snow removal and related activities.
• Operate John Deere Skid Steer, Bobcat or other heavy equipment to clear brush and stumps if required.
• Operate heavy equipment to move, load and unload cargo.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill equipment.
• Perform minor repairs to equipment.

Terms of employment

Full-time (40 hours/week), permanent

Expected Employment Start Date: 2026/04/01

Wage

$36/h

Location of work

Our business address and multiple locations in the Grande Prairie area depending on the jobsite address.

Skills requirements – Education and Work experience

Education: Secondary school required.

High school or industry courses specific to heavy equipment operating (e.g., military, industrial or automotive) combined with on-the-job training are required.

First Aid Certificate and Skid Steer Certificate are required.

Work Experience:

At least 3 months’ experience in operating heavy equipment is required.

At least 10 months’ experience in landscaping or construction is required.

Language requirements:

Spoken and written English required
