Job duties

• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
• Build, lay subflooring and build foundations, door, install floor beams, staircases, frame buildings, and erect walls and roof systems by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
• Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware
• Layout floorings, roofing and drywall ensuring they are leveled and compatible
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures
• Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
• Willingness to follow safety guidelines always

Terms of employment

Full-time, permanent (40 hours/week)

Expected Employment Start Date: as soon as possible

Wage

$35/h

Benefits package

Vacation pay is accrued at 4% and you will be registered for our optional medical/dental benefit package. The company pays 50% of the benefits and the employee pays the remaining 50%.

Location of work

3133 Sumner Ave, Burnaby, BC V5G 3E3 and multiple locations in Metro Vancouver depending on the jobsite address

Skills requirements – Education and Work experience

Education: secondary school required

Work Experience:

• minimum of two years of experience as carpenter or cabinetmaker required
• proficiency in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools
• demonstrable construction knowledge (overall understanding of the construction process and sequencing) required

Language requirements:

Spoken and written English required
