Sweet Thea Bakery, located in East Vancouver's Riley Park neighbourhood, is a new bake shop-café owned by Thea and Laurie Mercer. Our bakery offers a wide variety of freshly made breads, pastries, cakes, and savory items. We pride ourselves on using all-natural ingredients without any modified corn products or wacky additives. Our establishment also features 49th Parallel coffee and a selection of local products. Additionally, we have plans to offer evening cooking classes from our open-concept kitchen.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafeteria Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be eager to collaborate with the owners and staff in launching and developing new initiatives. This role involves supervising and coordinating the daily operations of our bakery, ensuring quality control, and maintaining excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the chef and back of house with the front of house staff, to ensure accurate preparation, portioning, and serving of food, ensuring efficient and smooth operations.
- Support the preparation of work schedules and operational procedures.
- Assist with maintaining records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage.
- Provide training for staff in job duties, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Always ensure that food and service meet Sweet Thea's quality control standards.
- Support in the hiring process with the training of new food service staff if required.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of Sweet Thea's social media presence, coordinating menu updates and leveraging marketing opportunities.
- Manage and oversee food delivery services such as Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes.
- Maintain and manage the loyalty program for retail customers.
- Help coordinate in-house digital signage to ensure effective communication of promotions and updates.
- Effectively communicate with staff, customers, and owners to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a community college program in food service administration, hotel and restaurant management, hospitality or tourism or related discipline is required.
- 6-12 months of experience in restaurant, bakery or cafeteria is required.
- BC Foodsafe certification is required.
- Experience with marketing and social media is required as this role support our marketing strategies.
- Commitment to the project with a view towards professional growth.
- Proximity to the new location on Main Street preferred.
- Ability to work weekends as needed.
- No gluten allergies or food sensitivities that would impair the ability to sample and understand our products.
