Job Description: Line Cooks
Position: Contract, Permanent, Full time with overtime as needed
Salary: $18.00 - $20.00/hrs. (min 30 hrs./week)
Language: Speak, Read, Write – English
Education: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience: experience an asset, Line Cook experience preferred.
Darrell’s has openings for 3 Line Cook positions for the busy Canadian-style cuisine Restaurant located in downtown Halifax. The Cook position is responsible for delivering high-quality food, ensuring consistency in the daily preparation of recipes, and meeting Company standards.
Reporting to the Chef/Management, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods according to Company standards.
Meet daily production needs, checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure quality standards are met. Chop/cut vegetables and prepare sauces as required.
Set up and stock the workstation with the required supplies for the shift. Maintain and clean up work area and take care of leftover food using safe food handling techniques.
Prepare food items for guests with food allergies or intolerances.
Review inventory and stock and report shortages to the Chef in a timely manner.
Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Ability to work daytime, evenings, and weekends as required
